The highly acclaimed story-telling duo of Kaitrin McMullan and Anna Bowen

Story telling using fiddle, mandolin, guitar, puppets, percussion and pure magic.

Kaitrin and Anna have combined their considerable talents to create several delightful shows featuring stories, songs, puppets and poems. Since 2005 they have toured many shows including their acclaimed “Healthy Eating” programme for the New Zealand National Heart Foundation. They have written and performed several shows for the Otago Early Settlers Museum, for festivals and community celebrations - for both adults and children. Kat Anna Fiddle present a highly polished performance, sparkling with energy, relaxed good-natured humour and delightful music. Here's what people are saying.

Kaitrin McMullan
As well as being a trained Early Childhood teacher, Kaitrin is a professional storyteller with over 25 years experience who has been telling stories to a range of audiences in a variety of settings: schools, festivals, conferences, museums, art galleries, libraries and pubs. She has been a featured teller at the 2004 Glistening Waters Storytelling festival, guest performer at National Australia Storytellers’ Festival 2005, touring schools for the Department of Conservation and REAP in Central Otago and the West Coast plus many other popular self-generated projects and tours. In collaboration with Christchurch storyteller Liz Weir, she has a CD of mostly original stories called Worms in the Pot.

Anna Bowen
Anna is a teacher of music in several Dunedin primary schools, in addition to being a skilled and versatile musician currently linked to 4 Dunedin bands and many recordings. She is most active with the contemporary folk duo Catgut and Steel. Fiddle, mandolin, penny whistle, accordion and guitar, all mastered and melodic in her hands as well as a honey-rich singing voice. A Dutch immigrant, she is bi-lingual and is still remembered as a well known figure busking around Dunedin with her distinctive fiddle style and her fiddling companion Coco the Cat. Kaitrin and Anna have run the children's programme of the Whare Flat Folk Festival at new year for many years. This is a perfect opportunity for classroom teachers to see them in action and talk with them about your programmes for the coming year. Kat Anna Fiddle will work within curriculum requirements to create a resource that will compliment your classroom programme.
